Really enjoyed Scott s book and his sense of humor This was, along with the Lord of the Rings guidebook, all we used to find things to do in the North Island, and we had a jam packed two week trip thanks to this guide The Google Maps GPS coordinates were invaluable

I can t give enough stars to demonstrate just how much we loved using this book on our recent trip to NZ It became a bible for our camper van trip around the North Island, and I can t think of a single occasion when we visited somewhere detailed in the book and the reality disappointed We did also have amainstream guidebook, which was great for an overall take on an area, and sometimes we did find a short mention in there of some of the places featured in adetailed manner in Frenzy I can t give enough stars to demonstrate just how much we loved using this book on our recent trip to NZ It became a bible for our camper van trip around the North Island, and I can t think of a single occasion when we visited somewhere detailed in the book and the reality disappointed We did also have amainstream guidebook, which was great for an overall take on an area, and sometimes we did find a short mention in there of some of the places featured in adetailed manner in Frenzy, but often there was limited information or greater focus on the better known local attraction, and I can guarantee that we would not have had many of our favourite NZ experiences if it had not been for Scott Cook s book Finding some of theobscure locations in the book is made easy thanks to the map co ordinates given, entries give relevant information such as whether certain roads are suitable for large camper vans, and accurately give length and difficulty of walks hikes, which is important when you have children in tow We arrived in NZ with ideas of some things that we would like to do see but plenty of spare time gaps in our itinerary, and NZ Frenzy gave us a plethora of ideas of how to fill this time Our children 6 and 8 achieved things that we would have otherwise been doubtful that they could do without the use of this book Scrambling behind huge waterfalls, hiking up eroded volcano cores and exploring uncommercialised glowworm caves are just three of the activities that we just would not have done with them if we had only had a mainstream guidebook The book also saved us a fortune and some amazing views of places well featured on the tourist trail such as Rotorua which we visited without spending a single dollar on attractions and Cape Reinga. We used this book in combination with a Freedom Camping guide written by the same author exclusively for the company that we hired our camper van from The two perfectly complimented one another, and again, we gained experiences from doing this that we otherwise just would never have had if we had stayed exclusively at paid campgrounds plus, we saved plenty of money too.Honestly, I can t write enough positives about this book Our only regret is that after three weeks on the North Island there were whole areas of the island that we hadn t made it to, plus the South Island But there will be other trips Thank you Scott Cook, you are viewed as a legend in our family now

Good overview of ideas for a trip to NZ Sometimes a little sparse on details Would make a good backpacker companion.
