This is a very difficult letter to write I hope you will not hate us too much My son broke into your home recently while you were out A teenage boy who breaks into his neighbors homes to look around and hack into their computers A woman down the street reported missing by her husband is later found dead.Who is the young hacker and who killed the woman I found this book to be extremely enjoyable Everyone has secrets Even if you think you know your neighbors, do you truly know what goes on behind closed doors How well do you know your spouse In this book, secrets will be revealed as the twists and turns keep coming There are several suspects and each one is plausible and makes sense Just when the police bring in one suspect, someone comes forward with information or to admit to a lie I was right there with the investigators changing my suspect list as the book progressed I love putting on my super sleuth hat and trying to figure out whodunit and enjoyed every second of this layered plot As the lies and secrets are revealed, husbands and wives will learn harsh truths about each other, and neighbors will learn about their neighbors than they might have wanted to know There are quite a few characters in this book, but they al...

What a neighbourhood Seemingly quiet and middle class on the surface but behind closed doors, there are affairs, secrets, a teenage boy breaking into their houses and a missing woman later found murdered Lapena keeps us guessing as the murder suspects pile up and the police keep changing their focus Some of the characters are not very likeable and some seem pleasant but are hiding unpleasant secrets An engaging, suspenseful read with enough twists to keep the w...

Shari Lapena is one of those authors that should be on everyone s reading lists Her writing is always dripping with suspense, and she always knows how to captivate an audience Sadly, I ve only read her last release, An Unwanted Guest, but that was a fun adventure When I was given the opportunity to read Lapena s upcoming novel, Someone We Know I just jumped out of my chair at the chance Hell to the YES In a small upstate town in New York, teenager Raleigh Sharpe has been breaking into his neighbors homes After his mother Olivia finds out about her son s break ins, she contacts a lawyer for advice However, she innocently leaves anonymous notes for her son s targets apologizing for his actions She feels like it s the right thing to do, but now it becomes knowledge that there s been break ins within the neighborhood Why would her son want to go into people s homes and why would he want to hack into their computers Olivia brushes this moment as a thing of the past, that is until one of her son s victims turns up dead As news breaks about Amanda Pierce s death, Olivia starts frantically worrying over her son s innocence She knows he wouldn t do anything to harm another person, but will her son s actions unravel into a deeper, sinister mystery Someone We Know is a great light mystery, that weaves slow building suspense with each page I really enjoyed Lapena s ability to focus on a plethora of characters t...

The book opens with a woman being bludgeoned to death by a hammer Who is she Who is swinging the hammer Robert Pierce has just entered the police station to report his wife, Amanda, as missing What would a normal husband say Robert clears his throat Olivia Sharpe s teenage son, Raleigh is breaking into the neighbor s houses at night and hacking into their computers He may have even sent some emails from one, posing as the owner of the computer The house feels different without anyone else in it full of possibilities A little shiver of excitement ran up and down his spine When Olivia finds out, she sends anonymous apology letters to the owners of the houses I m so sorry My son has been getting into people s houses he s broken into yours A Missing woman and Anonymous letters about someone breaking and entering has the whole neighborhood on edge.Although her last book was an Agatha Christie style mystery, this one is like her first two books, returning to a neighborhood FULL of secrets I was immediately hooked by the story, and SOMEONE YOU KNOW was reading late into the night till her eyes burned Everyone was a suspect, and it...

Olivia Sharpe has just discovered her teenage son Raleigh has been breaking in to neighbors homes He says he has never taken anything, he only breaks in to hack computers when no one is home.At the same time, news is breaking that their neighbor, Amanda Pierce who everyone believes left her husband even though he filed a missing persons report , has been found in the trunk of her car, which was submerged in the nearby lake Coincidentally, the Pierce home is one that Raleigh broke in to around the time of Amanda s disappearance.Olivia is certain her son had nothing to do with what happened to Amanda Pierce but that doesn t prevent the increasing worry she has that police will somehow find out Raleigh was in their home. This neighborhood has a lot of juicy secrets and they are revealed at a pitch perfect pace Readers learn Amanda s husband had a dark side and her extramarital affairs which lead to neighborhood rumors leave several men in the neighborhood under suspicion, including Olivia s husband To make matters worse, a neighbor is asking a lot of questions about an anonymous letter she received about someone breaking in to her home. The Sharpe family is pulled into the homicide investigation and Raleigh s crime may hold the answer to who killed Amanda Pierce.Lapena has written another enterta...

I ve been a fan of this authors for a while now so was delighted to see she had another book coming out The one thing I am always guaranteed with her books is that from picking it up, I know I won t want to put it down anytime soon This one was no exception. The story is mainly set in the neighbourhood of where Amanda, the missing woman, lived It does flick between different characters but the main one seemed to be Olivia Olivia is just your everyday wife and mother but with the disappearance of her neighbour, seems to come a whole heap of people with suspicious minds and accusations. This is one of those stories where it goes to show that you never know what truly goes on behind closed doors or how well do we know our neighbours, or for that fact, the people we live with There are so many revelations that kept me swaying as to who I thought the murderer was This is an author who truly knows how to mess with her readers head There really are so many suspects as to who could have killed the missing woman Her husband I immensely disliked from the start It s obvious he is hiding something but quite what I was desperate to know The further into the story, the suspects come to light and I loved the build of tension as we know the...

I m a fan of Lapena s writing and loved The Unwanted Guest It was such a successful closed place whodunit thriller With this book, I have some reservations, but my rating is high nevertheless considering I was glued to the book the whole time I finished this in a day, and had a fantastic time despite some points I thought could be better This book takes place in a middle class neighbourhood A woman gets killed in one of the houses and all gets tangled in a whodunit scenario There were many characters, many secrets got revealed during the plot It was really successful from that point of view It got me hooked from page one Lapena s writing hypnotises me for sure Somehow, her storytelling engages me like no other I couldn t put it down It kept my brain working to put everything together So, that s why for me it s a 4 star read Why not 5 stars I guessed the person who did it quite early on, and for me it was very obvious That s why my rating is lower There were many twists I couldn t guess of course But, the main one was staring at me for long time I also thought, she didn t develop that side of the story enough to satisfy with the motivation, character of the person, etc Also, there were 2 detectives making the investigation and those characters remained totally unknown, not developed, somehow like tools to the story It just felt a bit weird So, overall, it w...
