Rachel and Cory have been friends for years and she never considered him in those terms That is until she suddenly, accidentally sees him naked From then on she is all hot and bothered It s a good thing young boys don t read this kind of books because what kind of message is it sending That unsolicited dick pics might actually work and take you out the dreaded friend zone if you only get the angle right Anyway, Rachel and Cory dance around each other for most of the book because even tho Rachel and Cory have been friends for years and she never considered him in those terms That is until she suddenly, accidentally sees him naked From then on she is all hot and bothered It s a good thing young boys don t read this kind of books because what kind of message is it sending That unsolicited dick pics might actually work and take you out the dreaded friend zone if you only get the angle right Anyway, Rachel and Cory dance around each other for most of the book because even though they like each other and want to have sex with each other very badly, they realise they want different things in life he wants to travel and she wants to settle down Eventually, they have the brilliant idea to travel for half the year and stay at home for the other half, and thus they live happily ever after

My second full novel by Ms Cornick liked this one, too It was a sweet love story with just enough heat and it came at a plausible time not like the protagonists went at it lust at first sight style I look forward to the rest of this series, too

The Notorious Lord is the first in Cornick s Bluestocking Brides trilogy and remains one of my all time favourite historical romances, indeed this review comes after re reading it for the 3rd time. Our heroine Rachel is the daughter of two very eccentric archaeologists and has been dragged around the world on their various digs, and longs for nothingthan a normal, settled life They arrive in Suffolk to research an Anglo Saxon burial site when along comes our hero Cory, a dashing young adve The Notorious Lord is the first in Cornick s Bluestocking Brides trilogy and remains one of my all time favourite historical romances, indeed this review comes after re reading it for the 3rd time. Our heroine Rachel is the daughter of two very eccentric archaeologists and has been dragged around the world on their various digs, and longs for nothingthan a normal, settled life They arrive in Suffolk to research an Anglo Saxon burial site when along comes our hero Cory, a dashing young adventurer who often works with her parents Rae s first sight of her best friend completely naked rising from a stream and suddenly she start s thinking of him in an entirely un brotherly way Cory has long been in love with Rae and tries to convince her to marry him, but despite her strong feelings Cory is at heart an adventurer and not the settling kind.Being an Ancient historian living in Suffolk the appeal of this one is obvious I like that it s set in the local area depicting many places that I recognise the location is evoked really well I also love both the hero and heroine I love Rae s intellect and her unconventional background and as for Cory Oh my Super hot, smart, archaeologist yes please Although Rae refers to him as a rake he really is too dedicated to his artefacts and Rae to be considered such, neither is he a Duke or member in the ranking peerage, which is just such a refreshing change Romance wise this one also gets a huge thumbs up I love the friends to lovers trope which doesn t come up quite so much in the Regency genre, men and women moving largely in different spheres for close friendships to occur I also love the fact that it s not villains or stupid misunderstandings that keep these two apart, but Rae s very real desire for a settled life and Cory s desire for travel and adventure I like the love scenes too, unusually not perfect first time and the fact that it occurs after a near death experience There is an additional sub plot about a French female spy that Cory and the Kestrel Clan are there to unmask which seems a tad superfluous, particularly as it is not resolved in this volume however it does make you want to read the other two books in the series.Over all love this one, hero, setting, story, romance all great

Reading this on the heels of the Mistress of Midnight, the identical angst that provides the willing seduction of Rae and Cory was a little to repetitive the relief to be alive after a disaster which breaks down barriers leading to love making I kept thinking are they still covered with sand and mud Did they bathe They just stripped off their clothes, and hopped to it As Rae is so fastidious, perhaps am just being picky The antiquities background was the draw for me Found her parents lov Reading this on the heels of the Mistress of Midnight, the identical angst that provides the willing seduction of Rae and Cory was a little to repetitive the relief to be alive after a disaster which breaks down barriers leading to love making I kept thinking are they still covered with sand and mud Did they bathe They just stripped off their clothes, and hopped to it As Rae is so fastidious, perhaps am just being picky The antiquities background was the draw for me Found her parents lovely eccentrics and Cory an entirely devoted adventurer to what is around the next corner Found Rae beginning to sound like a broken record trying to keep within borders of brother friendship knowing she had been definitely attracted to the naked Cory rising from the river Despite gently trying to get through to Rae that his feelings have become a overwhelming love and desire for her, she puts ear plugs on and tries to ignore the increasing attraction Since this is a series the cast of characters are introduced and they will have their own stories though I don t have enough interest to pursue The story of Rae and her unconventional life traveling with eccentric parents, unhappily, is buffered by her long time friend, confidant, brother protector, who is literally part of the family He has the zest of adventure as her parents and travels with them as both of them grow up Moving from friends to lovers is far easier for Cory and enormously difficult for Rae The romance is most satisfying, the jealousy a sure sign of intimate affection, is offered as the thread that will bring them together That they want different lives despite loving one another requires a compromise when both agree they must be together no matter whose dream is sacrificed And so it is, she gets her home and her Wedgwood, he continues his adventures but this time with Rae, realizing she would rather be with him anywhere that not be with him Cory ready to give his adventuring up for her, neither wants to limit the other a home for Rae enough of the year makes both happy Lady Saltaire and Justin, Duke of Kestrel sound interesting The use of the same trope of disaster and potential death to bring h h to seduction in two instances was disappointing
