I m not even sure what failed the idea or its execution Why Because even after finishing Take Me Tomorrow I have absolutely no idea what was the idea and the point of the book I swear, the blurb makessense Sophia our main character, the daughter of some kind of an influential father meets a guy with mossy eyes, it s important, I guess, since Sophia couldn t stop pointing that out in the woods next to her house Mr Moss it s not his real name, but will do is surprised that it I m not even sure what failed the idea or its execution Why Because even after finishing Take Me Tomorrow I have absolutely no idea what was the idea and the point of the book I swear, the blurb makessense Sophia our main character, the daughter of some kind of an influential father meets a guy with mossy eyes, it s important, I guess, since Sophia couldn t stop pointing that out in the woods next to her house Mr Moss it s not his real name, but will do is surprised that it s her property, but then Sophia s friend let s call him Male Twin appears and Mr Moss goes away Male Twin tells Sophia sorry, I don t have a name for her, she wasn t all that interesting that their friend is hurt and has taken Tomo Tomo is a drug, a clairvoyant drug, actually, that allows people to see future It s illegal, but so are other things in the society people aren t allowed to carry weapons, minors have to be at home at evenings and nights due to the curfew, criminals go to military schools or even to lumberyards to work But if your behavior gets even worse, you might be sent to Phoenix for jail time Or might be executed Travelling isn t illegal, but it s rare and crossing the border is somehow a problem All these dictatorial measures were made because of the massacre that had occured 2 years ago The government tries to stop the spreading of the Tomo, but so far is unsuccessful That s it That s the whole world building you get For the first 30% of the book I had literally no idea what was going on Sophia was constantly breaking the so called law, reminding everyone that this or that was dangerous didn t believe Mr Moss didn t understand what was going on I feel you, girl kept repeating how she hated Mr Moss calling her Sophie Male Twin and Friend were trying to fight with Mr Moss constantly not telling her something checking their broken watches Female Twin just was there Mr Moss was speaking in riddles trying to explain he ll explain her everything later getting Sophia into trouble and then saving her someone, explain me, is it even legal to call it saving Shannon A Thompson was speaking in riddles, sharpening the situation in order to create a mystery But, excuse me, what s the mystery How is there supposed to be a mystery or a plot twist, if the reader can t get the idea what s going on All these I ll tell you later weren t intriguing On the contrary they were irritating view spoiler The whole twist with Mr Moss parents being the creators of the drug was absolutely irrelevant We had no idea who the hell the guy was, so what s the surprise hide spoiler The characters and their non existent development failed too I couldn t care about anyone Sophia our tough girl constantly tried to show em all she was a tough cookie, so whenever something bad was about to happen, she wanted to participate And don t get me started on those ridiculous scenes with her and weapons I gripped the nearest knife to me and held it in the air Do you know what I can do with this I threatened, adrenaline coursing through my veins Broden straightened up while Miles jumped to their feet Lyn didn t move Noah laughed Always with the knives, he joked, continuing to sip his coffee Little sips Like he was controlling his breathing.I curled my fist around the grip and positioned my hips to the side It was the only way I could let him know just how serious I was or how serious I wanted him to believe I was I ll be the cause of that pain if you don t tell me what happened, I threatened Sophie, he spoke softly and looked at me as if I were holding flowers instead of a blade The closer he was, the less confident I was Those eyes This boy I couldn t hold my ground. Okay, I could go on and on with this quote, it gets evenridiculous, but what was with that play pretend I m a serious threat Sorry, you simply look ridiculous Throughout the book these kids tried to look harsh, act as if they were adults, but even if some of them succeeded, Sophie failed. We meet a lot of characters, but the main one the villain , the dictator doesn t appear at all We only see people talking about him, characters discussing how dangerous he is, but we never actually see him, which is pretty silly Is he The Phantom Menace So many plot lines and characters didn t get any conclusion We also have a Shitty Reason to Start a War 45 view spoiler The clairvoyant drug showed that after the war there would be peace hide spoiler The romance is ridiculous as well Our Brave Tough Girl is torn between trusting and hating Mr Moss, but we all know how this is going to end She feels something when he hugs her, he as she thinks feels something too , and three chapters later she blushes every time someone calls his name There were some kind of hints about the possible love triangle, but, thankfully, the author didn t go there The level of extra drama has already gone off scale The writing didn t work for me It was plainly obvious and bad Why was Sophia constantly referring to her friends as the blond guy white headed girl tall guy And why were teens calling each other Ms Gray Mr WhateverHisSurnameWas Is it supposed to sound cool And the quotes likeIsn t he twenty Twenty one That explained the jawline. made me roll my eyes almost at every page The ending was rushed and unfinished I usually love so called open endings , but in this case there was no ending, no conclusion We never found out what could possibly happen to some characters, and so many questions are left unanswered I d love to tell you that Take Me Tomorrow was an unknown hidden gem, but I can t The lack of the story background, world building and any character relationship development is obvious and the overall plot is raw Alas, unlike the Tomo, Take Me Tomorrow isn t the addictive drug I hoped to see

I really enjoyed Shannon A Thompson s previous books Minutes Before Sunset and its sequel Seconds Before Sunrise so when she asked me if I would like to read and review her latest book, I gladly agreed Take Me Tomorrow is set in a dystopian world, where there is a war between the State and the people promoting and or using the clairvoyant drug called Tomo The protagonist, sixteen year old Sophia Gray, and her friends and family are thrown into the mix Will they all survive to see I really enjoyed Shannon A Thompson s previous books Minutes Before Sunset and its sequel Seconds Before Sunrise so when she asked me if I would like to read and review her latest book, I gladly agreed Take Me Tomorrow is set in a dystopian world, where there is a war between the State and the people promoting and or using the clairvoyant drug called Tomo The protagonist, sixteen year old Sophia Gray, and her friends and family are thrown into the mix Will they all survive to see tomorrow The premise itself is enough to get me intrigued, and I enjoyed Sophia s personality She s no weak heroine that s for sure But to be honest, I didn t like the book as much as I would have liked to I didn t hate it but I didn t love it either I felt rather slightly ambivalent, I should say The main issues that I have are the lack of world building and that there s not enough backstory As a reader, I would like to have avivid and convincing picture of the kind of world that the author is trying to sell me I would also like to know exactly why things are the way they are now I feel like I couldn t fully get into the book because I couldn t really see the whole picturethe bigger picture There are many loopholes and questions that I still don t know the answers to I don t even have a clear concept of the setting because it wasn t expounded upon Maybe if there werepages dedicated to the past, like what exactly happened during the massacre, or how the characters lives intertwined, I would have beenemotionally invested Plus, I don t think I cared much for Noah as a love interest I liked his mysterious appeal but that s about it.I truly wish that I knew , and actually read it for myself and not just be told that they are the way they are just because I mean, who is Phelps Every time I see his name, I weirdly think of Michael Phelps obviously But I guess his character is supposed to be like President Snow from The Hunger Games series Yet, he barely made a real impact or an appearance for that matter on the story, in my opinion Also, who s really working with who What happened to Broden What I do appreciate about this is that Shannon A Thompson had the courage to write about a sensitive topic without coming off as being too strong or controversial about it It was thoughtful, and it made me put everything into perspective Even though I didn t particularly care for Noah, his character made me think of the nuances of his reality, and what I would have done if I were in the same situationThis book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 Stars This was truly a unique read I love my dystopian worlds and while some can blend together, that definitely wasn t the case in Take Me Tomorrow The elements of the storyline were enticing and the mystery of all of the unknowns kept me flying through the pages The little hints of romance were innocently sweet and what blossomed from it left me smiling And the ending of the book left me completely dismayed but in a good way I can t even start to imagine where they can all go f 3.5 Stars This was truly a unique read I love my dystopian worlds and while some can blend together, that definitely wasn t the case in Take Me Tomorrow The elements of the storyline were enticing and the mystery of all of the unknowns kept me flying through the pages The little hints of romance were innocently sweet and what blossomed from it left me smiling And the ending of the book left me completely dismayed but in a good way I can t even start to imagine where they can all go from here Sophia is doing something she always does, walking her land to make sure there are no tomo trespassers It is her only sense of freedom in a world where everything is tightly constrained Only two years ago tomo, a clairvoyant drug, caused a massacre to happen Since then weapons have been banned, a tight curfew is enforced by police and disobedience is not tolerated with many levels of punishment in place Upon her walk she runs into a boy who sets off a chain of events that crumbles her world into the ground Everyone around her seems to be harboring secrets and in her desperate need to figure out what in the world is going on, while a war is erupting in the background, she keeps slipping further and further down the rabbit holeWhat do you have to lose I wanted to say, Everything I had everything to lose My reputation My record My friendship My family Probably even parts of my life I hadn t considered yet But my gut instinct told me that I could also save everything by shaking his hand.Sophia was a force to be reckoned with She was strong, demanding, brave and she did everything in her power to help her friends and trust me, they always needed her help I struggled right along with her while she waded her way through all of the secrets And I was just as frustrated as she was when we kept coming across a situation that would cause evenunanswered questions I truly liked her but I had a hard time grasping two things that revolved around Sophia Miles and Broden I never fully understood her relationship with either of those boys and I never felt a connection there Maybe I missed something, I m just not sure But I definitely didn t struggle in that department with NoahWait, Noah grabbed my hand, looking up at me with tired eyes, Sophie Apparently, he did remember me I m here, I said after a moment Stay, he breathed, and I felt the blood rush to my cheeks I turned away, only to be met by Lily s widened gaze Mile s jaw dropped, and Lyn smirked like she knew he would ask for me all along.Noah was a mystery that I enjoyed unraveling He was broken, dark and even though he never showed it, I couldn t help but feel as though he was suffocating from having the weight of the world on his shoulders There is so much that we still have to learn about Noah and all of his secret plans But ultimately I trusted him, and I hope I m placing my trust in him correctly Even though he frustrated me at times, he could switch and be so unbelievably sweet and innocent When it was just him and Sophia, he morphed into a different person and I definitely started to fall for him I want to knowabout that side of Noah but at the same time I know he has a lot of work to do He has a ton, and I do mean a TON of issues and problems I don t know if he will ever be able to work through them, but I m going to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best Oh and his little nickname for Sophia, I loved, loved, loved There is so muchthat I need to learn What led up to the tomo massacre, what happened during and shortly after, why do people believe this drug is their key to freedom, view spoiler I understand that the drug allowed them to see their freedom in the future but I don t understand why they continue to desperately need it hide spoiler and were the teenagers friendships set into motion for the bigger picture I m hoping these unknowns will be addressed in the future because I struggle with unanswered questions I m at a loss for how this story is going to proceed because it seems as though their lives could travel down so many different paths and each path could have so many ramifications Take Me Tomorrow was a fun, quick read, and I look forward to finding out where their journey goes from hereThis book was kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest reviewForof my reviews, please visit

why do I have a feeling that the author hates the fragile nature of my brainIt was supposed to be the most majestic creature but the end result was one without a head and a tail so like any plant without a root to hold its ground and leaves to serve its purpose, it crumbled the very day it was made First of all a huge thanks and hug to the author for providing me with the copy Apart from that I m so happy that I got to grab my hands on an awesome read SO Thank you very much All the dystopi why do I have a feeling that the author hates the fragile nature of my brainIt was supposed to be the most majestic creature but the end result was one without a head and a tail so like any plant without a root to hold its ground and leaves to serve its purpose, it crumbled the very day it was made First of all a huge thanks and hug to the author for providing me with the copy Apart from that I m so happy that I got to grab my hands on an awesome read SO Thank you very much All the dystopian fans gather around as we have oneprize to go into our collections Frankly when I was given this book, all I had in mind was that I m about to sit down with another young adult romance that will be overflowing with emotional crests and troughs but my oh my I was in for a shock when the book did not even show the faintest development in romance till I was almost on the verge of finishing this book And because of this one fact I am in love with this book In many ways the book actually reminded me of Legend by Marie Lu Its survival against the odds Take me tomorrow is a dystopian novel that is totally focused on the plot and the thrills rather than wasting time on character emotions or relationship troubles It is strictly plot, plot and plot The book starts pretty fast and in a way that also hampers the reading experience as things starts way too quickly without a proper introduction or history It took a bit to understand what kind of background and situation the whole story was set into.you have to give it a bit time as its only when you reach around the middle, that everything is described to you, including the whole new world the story is set in But don t let that be a negative factor because it kinds of keep your brain working Plot and the setting is pretty interesting and things run at a good pace keeping you fully occupied and not leaving you with any dull moments or a dip in the story Narration is good and language is simple but to be honest sometimes it can sound cryptic without detailed explanation of thingsSo for your sake without being a spoiler let me set you up with a little base for the book The entire plot is set in a post apocalyptic world and that s why things may sound little off course Just keep in mind it is a new world and take things as it comes Meaningstop scratching your head and ranting and Wait for things to settle and get clearer Also I m not sure why, but I m actually in awe with the cover of the book Lucky for me there is no overflowing romance in spite of so many guys and one girlAt the same time, I m kind of feeling that the author has left me at a cliffhanger Either that or I m not yet fully prepared to let go of this book with the ending that was provided The book kind of has not fully sealed the fate of the characters and maybe that is why I feel that there is something missing towards the end or that it ended way too quickly I have a feeling that there should be a sequelIn case there in no sequel planned, the author can totally expect me to camp outside her house till she writes me one.either that or she decided to calls the cops or unleash her dog to get me off her property It might be a possibility that if you have read the entire review, you have got all theconfused about the fate of this book So let me simplify it for you The book is good I loved it There is an actual story and being set in dystopian world there is so much to see, read and enjoy but yes the book lacks detailed explanation at certain points Proper briefing and history is not there and itson the readers to pick up the pieces and complete the puzzle by reading which can be fun and annoying based on how you see it For me personally, at the starting it was a bit hair puller, but the narration captivated me enough to hold on to the book and things started falling into places and as a result I had a great read with a book that had strong plot, characters and narration How was it

Take Me Tomorrow is a great addition to the current dystopian trend, without being too heavy handed with any of the popular themes There is some romance, but as usual Shannon treats it with a light hand something I find rather refreshing to be honest The story is balanced well between plot and relationships, and the majority of the characters are well developed I was left wondering about a few people by the end of the book, but I m reasonably confident this is not the last we ll hear of Sop Take Me Tomorrow is a great addition to the current dystopian trend, without being too heavy handed with any of the popular themes There is some romance, but as usual Shannon treats it with a light hand something I find rather refreshing to be honest The story is balanced well between plot and relationships, and the majority of the characters are well developed I was left wondering about a few people by the end of the book, but I m reasonably confident this is not the last we ll hear of Sophie and her friends Overall I found Take Me Tomorrow to be a fun, fast paced read that was easy to pick up even with multiple distractions over the weekend I read it We can tick off a couple of things I think parents should be aware of for most books marketing to this age group There is some mild language, but nothing particularly bothersome Sophia and company s adventures lean toward the violent side including physical fights, guns, explosions, etc The violence is not depicted in a glorified or gory fashion Substance abuse is addressed, as a particular drug is pivotal to the plot, but again not glorified Finally, the romantic content is limited to kissing For the most part, there is not a lot that would cause me to hesitate to recommend this book to my adolescent nieces Full review here

I was provided a review copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review All opinions are my own Quotes were taken from an uncorrected proof and may have changed in the final edition I also had the opportunity to interview the author of this book, so click here to read it.I feel that I m maybe not the best audience for this book, so everyone please take this review with a grain of salt The first book that I ever read by Shannon A Thompson was Minutes Before Sunset and it was I was provided a review copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review All opinions are my own Quotes were taken from an uncorrected proof and may have changed in the final edition I also had the opportunity to interview the author of this book, so click here to read it.I feel that I m maybe not the best audience for this book, so everyone please take this review with a grain of salt The first book that I ever read by Shannon A Thompson was Minutes Before Sunset and it was completely amazing And then I read is sequel Seconds Before Sunrise and that one was even better I think having read those first made my expectations of Take Me Tomorrow soar through the roof, which is unfair not only to myself but to the author who obviously put so much time and love into this book Do not misunderstand me I am not saying that I disliked this book I m simply saying that I did not enjoy this book as much as I expected to nor as much as I would have liked to Dystopians are easily my least favorite genre as I find myself liking only about 5% of those that I read, hating about 75%, and then being completely neutral to the other 20% This book fell into the 20% range There were parts of this book that I completely adored, and then there were other parts that I felt completely indifferent to Positives Plot I really found myself enjoying the plot of Take Me Tomorrow I ve found that Shannon A Thompson is exceptionally good at creating plots and story lines that are way different from the norm In this book, a drug called tomo has been synthesized and the hallucinogenic effects it creates some say which are prophetic has spawned a war between people and government, and protagonist Sophia Gray is about to find out that every single one of her loved ones have put themselves right in the middle After her friend Broden is attacked and put in the hospital, Sophia insists on him and Miles telling her everything that s going on, but since they re men they don t, and instead they put her in a situation that she s completely unprepared for I glanced over You could ve warned me about the second drop, you know The drop had to be over six feet because it covered Broden s head I thought you d enjoy a surprise The first drop was surprise enough, I mumbled, leaning back to survey my leg My knee was scraped, and my jeans were ruined. This is where we officially meet Noah, the same guy who Sophia found lurking around her father s property only a couple days before Noah is clearly on tomo, and Sophia doesn t want Broden or Miles having anything to do with him That s going to be pretty hard though since he s come to see her father, Dwayne Gray My father trusted him Whether or not I trusted him was another debate I had never questioned my father before Noah. Oooh, want some ice with that sizzling burn of betrayal Don t worry, Sophia you ll forget about that betrayal once you realize everything you know is a lie Thus the turning point of the story begins and action ensues Plus Romance Honestly, how many times do you hear someone say that the romance in a book was good Almost never, right I was so shocked when Sophia didn t immediately fall in love with one of the many guys thrown at her feet She could have succumbed She could have gone weak at the knees and confessed in rambling monologue her utter devotion for insert any guy s name here She fought the lurve bug, though Sophia Gray is a goddamn hero She s proof that heroines don t need heroes to save them all the time Before either of the boys knew what happened, I kicked Noah in the back of the leg, knocking him off balance His forehead smacked the doorway, and he fell down I landed my foot on his ankle and held my knife to his throat He didn t even have time to grab his head. Damn skippy And then there s Noah, the projected love interest The ONLY love interest Yes, you read that right It is actually possible to write a book without a love triangle And I liked Noah Yes, he s a drug addict Yes, he s probably terrible boyfriend material But I just loved him so much I raised my knife, and the blade flashed What are you doing here His mossy eyes focused on my weapon Don t you think the dog is a big enough weapon He s trained to attack His chin lifted Are you, tooCall me a walking clich , but I like my boys a little mysterious and fiesty And then there s the love between the two of them, Sophia and Noah It s so sweet and innocent, and the fact that Sophia hates his stinking guts at first makes it all thebetter Every scene between them made me giggle because I just knew where their relationship was headedStay, he breathed, and I felt the blood rush to my cheeks I turned away, only to be met by Lily s widened gaze Mile s jaw dropped, and Lyn smirked like she knew he would ask for me all along. His fingers dragged across my wrist Please, he breathed Okay, I murmured, sitting on the edge next to him Argos curled up at my feet I ll stayAnd I didn t even need tomo to see it Negatives Setting The setting of this book kind of baffled me in the sense that I never really got a true idea of where everything all took place I think Thompson could have benefitedby making the book at least 50 pages longer just for world building and setting descriptions The only thing I know about where the characters live is that it s called TopekaIt s just a name, I said You should care, he argued This is Missouri They should ve named the region after Jefferson or St Louis They did it on purpose, he said They want us to be confused They don t want us to understand where we are or where we should be They want us to be so confused that we don t even know where to beginBut yes, even though the city is called Topeka, we are, to quote Dorothy, not in Kansas any Noah hints at the possibility of the government keeping secrets about the city s true location, but it s never discussed for the rest of the book Where are we Also, what kind of government structure do we have Our ruling government is called the State, but what does it do Phelps is basically the president, but what other government officials are there Is this a dictatorship How did he come to power I can t answer any of those questions because I just don t know.I think the question that bothers me the most, though, is the mysterious Phelps massacre that happened two years before the events of this book The only thing the reader is told about it is that a lot of people were killed and that it was caused by a mass of people taking tomo Did the government kill those on drugs Did the people on drugs kill a bunch of innocents We don t know Why don t we know Is there going to be a sequel I don t know that, either.Character Development I m going to start off here saying that I did like the characters I thought they all fit in whatever society they were supposed to be in Dystopian Futuristic Chaotic I just felt that none of them were ever fully developed They all just kind of blended together to me Miles, Broden, and Noah all had the same basic personally as guys and then Sophia and Lily had the same basic personalities as girls Yes, we re all told what they each were like, but I never felt like I truly got to know them And then the side characters Phelps, Sophia s dad, Pierson, Anthony, Lyn all felt like they were just shoved into the story I could not tell you one personality trait of any of these characters Sophia s dad works for Phelps and he makes illegal weapons Anthony s family was killed and now he works for Phelps to hunt down Noah Pierson Works for Phelps but is on Noah s side Phelps He runs the State, but I couldn t tell you anything else besides the fact that he s old Lyn is a nurse With a kid.I wantedcharacter development so I could feel as if I truly knew the characters, and I didn t get that Because of that, when something bad happened to one of them I just didn t really care Overall Impression I really did like this book It will never be one of my favorites, but the action was fast paced and heart pounding and then the romance was sweet and unhurried, which I loved This book most definitely had its faults when it came to the world building and character development, but I m hoping that Shannon A Thompson will put out a sequel that answers a lot of the questions that developed throughout this book Also, I kind of needNoah Please and thank you
