    While I appreciate the attempt to bring Jane Austen into the 21st century, I do not think this book did Austen justice by any means All it seemed to do was sensationalize the story which maybe is what modernizing it means Rushton did not seem to capture Austen s satirical style while there was a bit of a lesson learned, the message just wasn t there The characters were too static and even seemed to be confused at times, and the inclusion of the drinking, language, and spoiler alert ho While I appreciate the attempt to bring Jane Austen into the 21st century, I do not think this book did Austen justice by any means All it seemed to do was sensationalize the story which maybe is what modernizing it means ...
